Global Center for Biomedical Science and Engineering

Summer School 2021

【Report】GCB Summer Schools in 2022 Winter have completed successfully

The Global Center for Biomedical Science and Engineering hosted the 8th GI-CoRE GCB Summer School in 2022 Winter for Medical Physics and the 4th GI-CoRE GCB Summer School in 2022 Winter for Molecular Biomedical Science and Engineering from February 28th till March 4th.

In addition to lecturers from the Graduate Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Health Sciences, Dentistry, Science, Hokkaido University Hospital, Isotope Center, and Veterinary Medicine, world-class lecturers from Stanford University, Cambridge University, Aarhus University, and other universities gave live (some on-time) lectures.

In addition to students registered for courses in the College of Medicine, Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, we also invited participants from outside the university through an open call for applications. As a result of a rigorous selection process by the Center's faculty members, the following 16 countries participated in the program: Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Nigeria, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United States, Pakistan, China, Iran, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Vietnam, Japan, and the United States. 28 participants for Medical Physics Summer School and 24 for Molecular Biomedical Science and Engineering Summer School attended online through the week.

The Molecular Biomedical Engineering School provided comprehensive lectures covering fundamentals, theory, applied research, experimental implementation methods, and demonstrations of medical science and engineering such as radiobiology and molecular imaging. In the MRI Virtual Tour, the first attempt of its kind, it was delivered live using an MRI machine. The lecture was especially well received by the participants, who felt as if they were there in person.

The Medical Physics School provided participants with a wide range of lectures on medical physics and other medical science and engineering theories as well as demonstrations of state-of-the-art technologies, which deepened their knowledge. Because we organized based on Japan time, some participants found it difficult to participate in the live lectures due to the time difference. But, we had great enthusiastic participants engaged in lively discussions and interactions with each other.
Thanks to all the participants and lecturers, we had successful and fruitful Summer Schools.

We're now planning of the next Summer School this coming August.

So, we hope you keep connected with us.
