【Report】 The 3rd GI-CoRE Medical Science and Engineering Symposium
On 3-4 March 2016, together with Department of Radiation Oncology, Stanford University, Global Station for Quantum Medical Science and Engineering (GSQ) jointly organized the 3rd GI-CoRE Medical Science and Engineering Symposium at Hokkaido University.
This year’s symposium featured the cutting edge research in radiation therapy and biology not only at Stanford and Hokkaido Universities but also at other leading institutions in Japan and the US, including Osaka University and Johns Hopkins University. The lectures covered a wide range of topics including imaging and treatment of liver and lung cancers, novel applications of proton beam therapy, the tumor microenvironment and the physics of particle beam therapy. All lectures were followed by very active discussions and attended by 141 audiences in total.
