【Report】 The 2nd GI-CoRE Summer School for Medical Physics Successfully Finished
On 12-18 June, our Global Station jointly organized the 2nd Summer School for Medical Physics with Stanford University. This Summer School was designed to provide a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge in medical physics which include basics of medical physics, particle therapy and RTRT, practical skills at Linac, proton beam therapy and planning system etc.
Not only lecturers from our global station, but also invited lecturers from other institutions gave wonderful talks including Dr. Lei Xing and Dr. Ruud Vinke from Stanford University as well as Dr. Lijun Ma from University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Dr. Hideyuki Mizuno from National Institution of Radiological Science and Dr. Takahiro Yamada from Hitachi, Ltd.
This year, we accepted 15 participants in total including a technical assistant of Hokkaido University. In comparison to last year’s Summer School, the students gathered from more diverse areas across the world: China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, New Zealand, the U.S and Japan. All of those participants successfully completed the course and were awarded a completion certificate. They gave us very positive feedbacks for the contents of lectures but at the same time we also realized some potential to improve our summer school further for next year.
