【Report】The 3rd GI-CoRE GCB Summer School for Molecular Biomedical Science and Engineering and the 7th GI-CoRE GCB Summer School for Medical Physics has successfully finished.

Global Center for Biomedical Science and Engineering, Faculty for Medicine held the 3rd GI-CoRE GCB Summer School for Molecular Biomedical Science and Engineering and the 7th GI-CoRE GCB Summer School for Medical Physics from Monday, February 15 to Friday, February 19, 2021.

Considering the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, both summer schools were held online this year. In addition to in-house lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, the university hospital, and the Isotope Center, the world-class from Stanford University, Cambridge University, and other universities gave live or on-time lectures.

Overall, the 3rd GI-CoRE GCB Summer School for Molecular Biomedical Science and Engineering provided comprehensive lectures covering theories and demonstrations of basic and applied research and experimental methods in biomedical science and engineering, including radiobiology and molecular imaging. The 7th GI-CoRE GCB Summer School for Medical Physics delivered demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies as well as biomedical science and engineering theories focusing on medical physics. Some of the lectures of the two summer schools were held jointly as in the previous year.

This time, we invited previous summer school participants and those in the university who wished to attend the online lectures, and we had an audience of about 30 participants, in addition to the three registered students of the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering and Science, who attended the online lectures. Although the lectures were on remote mode, different from previous years, the participants expanded their knowledge of a wide range of fields and actively exchanged opinions. We hope that the Young Researcher Training Programs will further develop in the future based on the experience of this year.
